Ewa Strusińska (born 1976) is a Polish conductor born in Stalowa Wola. Studying at the Frédéric Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw she was awarded diplomas first in choral conducting, then in orchestral conducting in 2005 following a performance with the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra.
Ewa Strusińska has worked with many orchestras including the Polish National Radio Orchestra, the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonietta Baden. In 1997 she became conductor and artistic director of the Polish Choir Jeunesses Musicales with whom she was nominated for a Fryderyk Award in 2000. Also in 2000 she won the Grand Prix in the St. Petersburg Meetings Festival with the Choir "Tutti Cantamus". In 2005 she became assistant conductor of the Częstochowa Symphony Orchestra and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra in the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw, moving to England in 2006 to take up a two year Junior Fellowship in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music under Mark Elder, conductor of the Hallé Orchestra. In 2007 she was appointed musical director to the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra. She was shortlisted for the Gustav Mahler Conducting Prize in 2007, taking fourth prize.
Ewa Strusińska, a finalist in the triennial Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg, was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Hallé Orchestra and Music Director of the Hallé Youth Orchestra in 2008.
She has conducted a range of orchestras including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Bamberger Symphoniker, Hofer Symphoniker, Sinfonietta Baden, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, National Polish Radio Orchestra, Czestochowa Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszów Philharmonic Orchestra, Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Northern Sinfonia.
In 2005 she worked as Assistant Conductor of the Czestochowa Symphony Orchestra before moving to Manchester to begin a two-year Junior Fellowship in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music. She has also studied with several distinguished international conductors including Valery Gergiev, Antoni Wit, Bruno Weil and Kurt Masur.
Ewa Strusińska made her opera debut with Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2006 and in 2007 conducted four performances of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. In 2010 she appeared at Buxton Festival with Bennet’s All the King's Men.
From 1998 to 2006 she was conductor and Artistic Director of the Polish choir Jeunesses Musicales. In 2000 the choir was nominated for one of Poland's most prestigious music awards, a Fryderyk Award. She won the Grand Prix in St. Petersburg in Russia with the choir Tutti Cantamus.
Ewa Strusińska was born in Poland and studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In 2009 she was given the title 'Ambassador of Stalowa Wola', an honour made by her home city in recognition of an individual's personal achievements in Poland and abroad.
